2012 Gala Christmas Concert

The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland reverberated, as the choir rounded off a successful 2012, with our annual musical celebration of Christmas, on Thursday 20th December. It was a truly fabulous, heartwarming event, that made it feel our Christmas had really begun.

We were so thrilled to have with us such talented guests: Soprano Aileen Marley, The Georgie Salvation Army Band (ably and touchingly directed by Keith Johnston),  rising star Suzanne Murphy, flautist Bethany Morton and the Craigholme Festival Choir (under the direction of Merle Craig and accompanied by Anne Macfadden), and even to witness a first performance from Olivia Donnelly!

We were also very pleased to have, as supporting accompanists for the evening, the superb musicians John Pitcathley (Fellow of the Academy) and, for his first Christmas in Scotland, our very own Geoffrey Tanti.

We were delighted to be able to raise £800 for each of the two charities that we were supporting that evening: Diabetes UK,  Scotland and The Salvation Army Kenyan Water Development Project

Find out more about our special guests and exciting programme here.

This event is an important one to all the choir and if you missed it we hope you will take a few hours away from the bussle of preparations to join us next year. Is there a carol that means a lot to you? Is there are special event to celebrate or someone to remember? Find out about sponsoring one of the carols in our programme here.

November 15th 2012: Concert for Peace

This was in Sherbrooke St Gilbert’s Church, Pollockshields, where we were delighted to be joined by performers from Craigholme Girls School, including some stunningly gifted soloists. We enjoyed sharing, in the performance of a range of thought provoking music and statements, and hearing inspiring news of the work of the Charity ‘Help for Heroes’.

£329.00 was raised from the retiring collection for ‘Help for Heroes’ .
