Scarecrow Festival Gala Concert 2013

10992075_s

The 2013 Scarecrow Festival Gala Concert was an evening to remember. The walls of a packed Bothwell Parish Church resonated to a glorious medley of music. Our spectacular rendition of Holy City, led by superb soprano soloist Aileen Marley was a particular hit and even if the skies had been darker earlier in the day, everyone appreciated the Blue Skies swing to their homeward step.

We also enjoyed the opportunity to hear delightful and inspiring performances from local stars – pianist Drew Crichton and Uddingston Grammar’s Young Musician of the Year, Alto Sax player, Catherine Hall. In addition, we were treated to the welcome return of the very versatile tenor Matthew Todd and to the first but hopefully not the last Gala Concert appearance, of the pure lilting quality of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s Mezzo Soprano, Robyn Stapleton.

We were very pleased to be able to contribute to the evening’s fundraising for Yorkhill Children’s Charity.

Roll on next year!

24th March 2013: An Evening of Sacred Music

an angel watching over us

This concert on Sunday March 24th was held to support the Restoration Project for the historic Bothwell Parish Church. We were amazed at the generosity of those who supported us and allowed us to raise £2000 for the Restoration.

We were delighted to have the additional excellent support of members of choirs from Churches in and around Bothwell for this concert, two fabulous soloists, Aileen Marley and Suzanne Murphy and of course or fabulous accompanist, Geoffrey Tanti. View our programme. The Faure section was particularly special to us, being in memory to the late and much loved former accompanist Jimmy Greenshields was sponsored. We enjoyed a truly glorious occasion exploring a range of classical and modern sacred music and your reviews showed you did too!

‘The Bothwell Phil. At it’s very best. A wonderful programme of Sacred Classics in  Lanarkshire’s most beautiful setting’.

‘Once again the choir and soloists lifted my spirits with this inspired programme, thank you’.

‘One of the best Bothwell Phil concerts yet.’

Great concert! Wonderful music! Congratulations to all!

‘Stunning venue for a stunning concert.’

‘Where else would you hear world class soloists for a £7.00 ticket? Truly outstanding.’
