Craigholme Musician of the Year

The Choir is pleased to be associated again with the Craigholme School Musician of the Year competition for 2016.

This annual event is sure to be another splendid showcase of wonderful upcoming talent.

The event is taking place on Tuesday 8th March at 7pm in the Senior School Assembly Hall (68-72 St. Andrews Dr, Glasgow G41 4HS).

Tickets are £5 and are available at the door.

A DIARY BURSTING WITH MUSIC

With the last of the decorations now in the loft and the delectable goodies being replaced by much more sensible fare, it is lovely to have the rest of our Choir 2016-16 session to look forward to:

  • 17th January: Please bring the following additional music –
    • Morte Christe
    • Come to the Fair
    • The Holy City
  • 24th January: NO REHEARSAL You are very welcome to attend the Concert being given by the children of St Andrew’s School Buenos Aires and Craigholme School in Sherbrooke St Gilbert’s Church at 7.00 pm (tickets £5.00).
  • 26th February: CHOIR DINNER. Please do put this in your diary and indicate your intention to come on the sign-in sheet at rehearsals. We would love to have your company at the dinner for members of the choir which will be held in a local restaurant – venue TBC once numbers are determined.
  • 6th March: please note that the rehearsal will start at 7.30 not 7pm and run ’till 9pm
  • 17th April: CONCERT in aid of Christian Aid, at 7 p.m. in New Kilpatrick Church Bearsden (Transport will be arranged).
  • HOLIDAYS: NO REHEARSALS on 14th February, 27th March, 3rd April
  • 20TH MAY: SPRING CONCERT 2016
  • 22ND MAY: CHOIR AGM

Warm up with singing!

23548355_sAs the weather turns wintery, wrap yourself in the warmth of your choir friends and let our weekly singing exercise work off those Christmas extras and protect your from all those winter bugs, as we start our new session on Sunday 10th January at 7pm.

Please also remember that the car park can be icy so take care!

2015 November Members’ Update

After a great start to our rehearsal of our Christmas music last weekend, we are looking forward to piking up all those extra points that will make our concerts on 6th and 22nd December really special. sparkling music

Tickets for the RCS Concert are almost all sold out! Book now to avoid missing out!

Please remember to declare (and pay for) any requests for the members’ bus -leaving St Brides at 2.30 on 22nd (£2 return) and the Fan Club bus -leaving St Brides at 6.30 on 22nd (£4 return).

Cancellation -13.9.15

Due to unanticipated circumstances the choir is NOT going to be able to participate in the Scarecrow Festival Concert on 13.9.15.

The rest of the concert will still go ahead and choir members can still attend as part of the audience.

The concert starts at 7.30 and tickets are £12.00.

September 2015 Members’ Update

scarecrowWe are looking forward to singing in the Scarecrow Gala Concert on the 13th September. We will be attending to sing at the start of the concert only and we will then leave the building. Those who wish to stay for the remainder of the concert should still process to the back of the church where they will hopefully be able to secure a seat. (Please note that for concert participants tickets for the rest of the concert are not required).

The rehearsal on the 6th will focus on this and is for those planning to attend the 13th.

Please also note that there will be no rehearsal on the 27th September.

Members who enjoy singing the Faure Requiem may wish to note that there will be a Come and Sing in aid of CLIC Sargent children’s cancer charity at St Cuthbert’s Parish Church in Edinburgh on 19th September. read more and download booking form here.

Please also note that the members’ Christmas Concert priority booking forms have now been released and emailed to those on our members mailing list. All applications will be on a first come first served basis. Please DO add a note about any special requirements e.g. need for disabled seating.

Forms are to be returned to Bernadette accompanied by the correct amount of payment. Note -you do not need to select postage of tickets or pay for this as tickets will be issued by Bernadette during a rehearsal, nearer the time. Ideally cheques (or if necessary cash) should be used. Please do NOT enter credit card details on the form (even though the form shows this section) as we cannot guarantee that this card data will be kept safe.

Last date for the submission of forms is Sunday 18th October after which bookings will have to be made directly with the venue. NO bookings will be taken by the venue before the choir’s paper bookings have been received during w/c 19th October and actioned. All priority booking is to be via the attached form returned to Bernadette.
